a. Ben-Gurion's Diary, 1924-1971

Ben-Gurion wrote in his diary almost every day
about personal matters, his impressions of historical and political facts,
security and defense issues, all of which contribute to a most significant
evidence of the Mandate years and the establishment and the creation of the
State of Israel. The diaries are not only historical documents but form the
basis for research on the issues of education, defense, geography, religion and
state, Zionism, Israeli society, relations with the Diaspora, etc. (64 boxes).

Correspondence
1.
This record group includes letters mostly to and
from Ben-Gurion that are arranged chronologically. The letters discuss amongst
other issues: foreign and domestic policies; the face of the nation within
Israel and in the Diaspora; the image of the State; historical events; religion
and State; education, etc. Personal, as well as family letters are to be found amongst
the correspondence. The letters are mostly in Hebrew but some are in English,
German, French, Yiddish, Russian, etc. (382 boxes)

Personal Archives
1.
These include various segments from estates and
archives of people who had working relations or through their activities were
connected to Ben-Gurion, before and after the establishment of the State: Avrunin,
February-June 1948, including a file with telegrams and a file of reports and
letters dealing with the purchasing of equipment and materials. (1 box)
2.
Edelman Maurice, includes the documentation he
collected and the drafts for his book: David, the Story of Ben-Gurion. (1 box)
3.
Altermann Nathan, including drafts of his poems
and collected verses, newspaper clippings, a few letters and a special
collection that was published a year after his death. An index exists. (6
boxes)
4.
Erez Yehuda, 1921-1983, (editor of Ben-Gurion's
papers). Includes drafts of of Ben-Gurion's papers, notes on the editing of the
papers and a number of Erez's personal letters. An index exists. (24 boxes)
5.
Hoz Dov, 1913-1941. Includes personal letters,
testimonies about Dov Hoz and his activities by Shimon Kushnir, Moshe Sneh,
Berl Reptor, Abba Fox and others. (2 boxes)
6.
Halevi, H.S., (physician), material includes
mainly scientific papers about medicine in Israel and some personal
documentation, i.e., letters to his parents, his children and friends. An index
exists. (30 boxes)
7.
Weissburg Chaim, (a Zionist activist), includes
letters, articles, memoires and newspaper clippings. Most documents are in
Hungarian. An index exists. (35 boxes)
8.
Yehoshua Cohen, includes his letters written
while he was exiled in Africa (Assmara, Eritrea), newspaper clippings, articles
and varied documents concerning his teachings. An index exists. (45 boxes)
9.
Nathan Robert, 1944-1971, includes documentation
pertaining to his visits to Israel concerning economic cooperation with organizations
in the United States. An index exists. (2 boxes)
10.
Slavin Chaim (engineer), documentation
pertaining to the establishment of the military industries in Israel including
letters, newspaper clippings and interviews with him. (1 box)
11.
Kurtzman Dan, author of a Ben-Gurion biography,
includes all the material he collected: newspaper clippings, publications,
translations of Ben-Gurion's letters and notes taken during oral interviews.

that Ben-Gurion headed or had influence

documents were photocopied in various archives: Beit Berl, the Lavon Institute,

Includes minutes of meetings Ben-Gurion held
with various people in different places and on a variety of subjects:
journalists, soldiers, youths. This group also includes protocols or surveys of
meetings with institutes that were not active in an organized manner for an
extended length of time. (48 boxes)

Chronological Documentation, 1900 - 1973

This group includes documentation that is
neither correspondence nor protocols but is mainly parallel to the correspondence
record group. The documents include memorandums, reports, notes, summaries of
meetings and discussions, circulars, statistical data, etc. (97 boxes)

Speeches and Articles
1.
This group includes mainly drafts of
Ben-Gurion's articles and speeches written for newspapers, books, conferences
and lectures. This documentation in its final version may be found in the
Library. (53 boxes)

Ben-Gurion's Bureau

Includes files photocopied from Record Group no.
43 from the Israel State Archive.

The documentation is from the years Ben-Gurion
served as prime minister and pertains both to domestic as well as foreign
policies of the Government of Israel. An index exists. (185 boxes)

This group includes personal greetings and good
wishes to Ben-Gurion on various occasions and events. (26 boxes)

Audio-Visual
1.
This group contains audio-visual material such
as photos, caricatures, audio tapes, videos and transcripts of oral interviews.
Permission to use any of this material must be obtained and advance from the
appropriate copyright holders.
2.
Oral Interviews: The interviews were mostly
conducted in the late 1970s with people who were active by Ben-Gurion's side
and who participated at historical events of the nation and state, amongst
them: Shimon Peres, David HaCohen, Gershon Zak, Ehud Avriel, Rose Halperin,
etc. The interviews were printed and are arranged alphabetically with an index.

Audio Tapes: Recordings of Ben-Gurion's
speeches, oral interviews, radio programs, seminars, lectures and workshops
held at the Ben-Gurion Heritage Institute. An index exists.

Video Tapes: Films and television programs about
Ben-Gurion. (41 tapes)

Photos: A wide collection of Ben-Gurion
photographs pertaining both to his private life and to his public roles as
leader of his people and state. The collection includes scanned photos from
various archives; Hagana Archives, the Central Zionist Archives, the Israel
State Archives, the IDF Archives as well as freelance photographers: David
Rubinger, Micha Bar-Am, Alex Gal, etc. An index exists. (42 boxes)

Caricatures of Ben-Gurion: Collection includes
mainly caricatures that were copied from newspapers but also copies of
caricatures that were received from the artists themselves; Arie Navon, Yosef
Bass, Dosh, Ze'ev and others.
