  Biography of Gil Hoffman:
Gil Hoffman is a political correspondent and columnist for The Jerusalem Post, the Middle East’s leading English daily newspaper, whose website is among the best-read and most-respected sources of information on Israel and the Middle East. Well connected to Israeli and Palestinian political leaders, Mr. Hoffman has interviewed Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and every major figure across the Israeli political spectrum, and has been interviewed by top media outlets on six continents. Due to Israel’s stormy political environment, he has covered eight elections since joining the Post in September 1999. Mr.Hoffman’s popular Seven Days column and frequent appearances on Israel Television give readers a behind the scenes look at the intrigue and humor of the Israeli political arena. In addition to his own beat, he frequently covers diplomatic issues, traveling with the Prime Minister and reporting on the Peace Process and important international developments. Mr. Hoffman, who was raised in Chicago, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwestern University’s School of Journalism in June 1999, and wrote for the Miami Herald and the Arizona Republic before moving to Israel. He serves as a corporal in the IDF’s Spokesman’s Unit (Dover Tzahal) and lives in Jerusalem with his newlywed wife. Quote from Mr. Hoffman: “I have spoken about Israel in Israel and America on behalf of many organizations during the past five years. I see representing Israel and helping to better educate the top supporters of the Jewish state as both a duty and a joy. Sitting here in the Knesset now as I write this, it is amazing to see how Tu B’Shevat unites even the most divided Jewish people in this building. This goes hand in hand with the important work of the Jewish National Fund in planting trees, protecting the nation’s water supply, and making the desert bloom.”
